Thousands of Houston-area children do not have a bed to sleep on.
Help Houston Furniture Bank make ours a city where no child sleeps on the floor!
Beds for Kids
One in every six Houstonians currently lives below the federal poverty threshold. Every night in our city, tens of thousands of children are sleeping on the floor and every day at Houston Furniture Bank, we meet families who do not have beds for their children.
A Good Night’s Rest
According to Rachel Dawkins, M.D., with the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital,
Studies have shown that kids who regularly get an adequate amount of sleep have improved attention, behavior, learning, memory, and overall mental and physical health. Not getting enough sleep can lead to high blood pressure, obesity and even depression. 1
Our Goal
Houston Furniture Bank is working with partner organizations and the community to create a healthy living environment where no child sleeps on the floor. Our goal is to raise funds to provide 100 twin mattress sets each month to the children of the families we serve.
A History of Service
Houston Furniture Bank has served over 50,000 children in 26 years. In 2018 alone, we served 1,348 children, with an average of 112 per month between our disaster relief and regular furniture distribution program.
